Service, Compassion and Civic Responsibility

Solihull Volunteers Network is a community-focused initiative established by Solihull Central Masjid & Community Centre. Rooted in service, compassion and civic responsibility, SOVNET recognises volunteering as a powerful force for positive social change and sustainable community development.

Through its volunteers, SCMCC supports interfaith, intercultural and intercommunity dialogue, helping to build understanding, mutual respect and meaningful connections between diverse communities.

All roles are voluntary, and volunteers support the community in many practical and people-focused ways.

What SOVNET Supports

Faith and Community Life

Support for Ramadan, Eid prayers and celebrations, interfaith iftars, Nikkah services, Janazah prayers, Islamic talks, spiritual retreats and community ceremonies.

Wellbeing and Hospitality

Regular gatherings, pastoral support, reflective spaces, weekly Chai and Gup Shup sessions, health workshops and inclusive wellbeing activities.

Education and Outreach

School visits, RE teacher training, Hajj seminars, children's programmes, equality and diversity sessions, and community workshops.

Charity and Civic Action

Food bank support, chaplaincy visits, refugee week activities, networking events, charity collaboration and local environmental action.

How the Network Operates

SOVNET operates as a collaborative partnership with an advisory group overseeing planning and coordination. Members agree to work respectfully, promote inclusion and equality, share information constructively, support positive community outcomes and respect confidentiality where appropriate.

Membership is open to individual volunteers, residents and stakeholders who support SOVNET's aims.
