Solihull Central Masjid also known as Sandalls Cottage Community Centre is situated at the Cottage, 1021 Warwick Road, Solihull was established in 2016 as a place for Islamic worship for the Muslim community in Solihull and other nearby areas. We are located at the heart of Solihull town centre and opposite the very famous Brueton Park and in very close proximity of the motorway M42 junction 5.
In 2007 the previous owners of the Cottage applied to convert the residential property into a ‘Day Nursery’ and obtained an open ‘D1’ planning permission without any restrictions. An open ‘D1’ meant that the site could be used for any of the sub categories such as a place of worship, community centre, educational establishment, a health centre etc. Al’humdullilah that was the planning of Allah (SWT) so that in February 2016, when the present site was purchased we were able to start using the Cottage as a Masjid and as a community centre without requiring any further planning permission. This was a big blessing and a huge gift to the Muslim community to have this planning status from the outset Al’humdullilah.
Since the start of Ramadan in June 2016, Al’humdullilah, as an all inclusive Masjid we have been providing excellent prayer facilities for both men and women including five daily prayers, Jummah prayers, Taraweeh prayers, Eid prayers and many other activities have regularly taken place at the Masjid. Our Masjid regularly attracts many travellers off the M42 as we are literally a minute away from junction 5. Travellers can take a break, refresh themselves, pray, enjoy complimentary refreshments and then move on to continue their journey. Since its inception and to date it is the first and the only Masjid in Solihull with a full-time Imam.
Our aim at Solihull Central Masjid is to serve the Muslims in Solihull and other nearby areas to provide the Muslim community with a space for five daily prayers, Jummah prayers, Taraweeh prayers and Eid prayers. In addition the Masjid provides for the social and religious needs of the Muslim community to help them preserve their Islamic identity and to make them active participants of the society. This includes provision and arrangements for Eid Celebrations, Community/Family events, Islamic talks, Youth activities, Qur’an lessons, Spiritual retreats, Family outings, Sporting activities, Nikkah services, Janaza prayers and other religious and social ceremonies/activities.
